Teachers can manually enter questions using these formats:
Multiple Choice
- Single-Select (one correct answer) or Multi-Select (multiple correct answers)*.
- Teachers can provide explanations for correct/incorrect answers.

Teachers can manually add multiple choice questions to their exams, either as single-select (one correct answer) or multi-select (multiple correct answers). This guide walks through the process using the manual entry method.
- Inside the create exam page, Click "Add question"
- Select which topic your question falls under
- Click "Next"
- Click "Multiple Choice"
- Click "Standard" to create either a regular multiple choice question or a true/false question.
- Choose or enter the number of questions you want to add for this type, and specify how many options each question should have.
- Add your question in the input area. Don't forget to set how many marks the correct option is worth.
- Click "Show options" dropdown to start inputing your options
- Save your options
- Set the correct answer by clicking next to it as shown
- Click "Save"
Writing (Open-ended Response)
- Students type an answer in a text box.
- Can be graded manually by the teacher.

Writing questions allow students to respond with open-ended answers and are best used for essays, explanations, or subjective responses.
- Inside the create exam page, Click "Add question"
- Select which topic your question falls under
- Click "Next"
- Click "Writing"
- Click "Long answer"
- Choose or enter the number of questions you want to add for this type.
- Add you question and correct answer in their respective input fields. Don't forget to set how many marks the questions is worth.
- If you want to add an explanation click to expand and set your explanation
- Click "Save"
Fill in the Blanks
- A passage with missing words where students must input the correct answers.
- Teachers define the blanks and acceptable responses.

Fill in the Blank questions allow teachers to assess knowledge recall and comprehension by requiring students to type missing words into a sentence or paragraph. You define the blanks and accepted answers manually.
- Inside the create exam page, Click "Add question"
- Select which topic your question falls under
- Click "Next"
- Click "Fill in the blanks"
- Start adding you first question
- Click "Drop Area" to add the blank where the student is expected to input the correct word or phrase.
- Add your correct word or phrase
- Click "Next"
- You have the option to add distractors, these are incorrect answer choices meant to challenge the student and make the question more thought provoking. Click "Add option"
- Click "Add"
- If you want to add an explanation, click to expand the section and enter your explanation. Don’t forget to set how many marks each correct option is worth.
- Click "Save"
Order/Match
- Ordering: Students arrange a list of items in the correct order. (Coming soon)
- Matching: Students connect related terms, such as vocabulary words with their definitions.(Coming soon)
- Single-Matching: Each item in Column A matches only one correct option in Column B.
- Multi-Matching: Items in Column A can match multiple correct answers in Column B.

Order and Match questions help assess students' ability to sequence or connect related items. Assessr supports different formats, including Single Matching, and Multi-Matching.
- Inside the create exam page, Click "Add question"
- Select which topic your question falls under
- Click "Next"
- Click "Order, Match"
- You can create either a Single Matching or a Multi Matching question. In Single-Matching, each item in Column A has only one correct match in Column B. In Multi-Matching, an item in Column A can have more than one correct answer in Column B. Lets start with Single Matching.
- Add your options in column A
- Next add your matching statements in Column B.
- Select the correct matching statement for each option listed.
- Once you've set the corresponding statement the "Add" button will enable. click it to proceed
- You can add an explanation and adjust how many marks the question is worth if needed.
- Click "Save"
- Now, let’s say you want to create a Multi-Matching question. To do that, go back and click 'Add Question'.
- Click "Order, Match"
- Click "Multi-Matching"
- Click "Add Row"
- Click "Add Option"
- Click "Answer Options" to set the choices students will see when selecting the correct answer. For example, 'A only', 'B only', or 'Both A and B
- Start Adding
- Once you're done, proceed to add the statements for the item in Column A, in this case "DNA". Click "Add statement"
- Start adding you statements
- Once you are done, go and select its corresponding answer
- In this case we select both.
- Click "Add"
- You can edit the questions if you are not happy. click the icon shown.
- Add another row.
- We repeat the same process
- Click here.
- Click "Add statement"
- Select the corresponding correct option.
- Congratulations you have successfully updated your question.
- Save you work.
